The U.S.-based chip manufacturer Nvidia, along with its employees, contributed $15 million to various Israeli and international non-profit groups aiding civilians affected by the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Over 30 countries' employees participated, collectively donating $5 million, which Nvidia matched and doubled to $10 million through a special initiative aimed at assisting those impacted by the war. According to Nvidia, this donation marks the largest humanitarian fundraising effort in the company's three-decade history.
Gideon Rosenberg, Nvidia's deputy general counsel, expressed gratitude for the widespread support from Nvidia employees globally and highlighted their concern for colleague Avinatan Or's safe return, along with other hostages held by Hamas. Or, a 30-year-old engineer at Nvidia since April 2022, was taken captive by Hamas during the Nova music festival on October 7, alongside his girlfriend Noa Argamani and approximately 240 others, some of whom have been released.
Nvidia specified that its employees opted to donate to various regional organizations, including Asor Fund (JGive), American Friends of Magen David Adom, Doctors Without Borders, Friends of United Hatzalah, IsraAID (US) Global Humanitarian Assistance, Jewish Agency for Israel, World Central Kitchen, and Zaka.
Additionally, Nvidia reported donating numerous computers to families evacuated from Israel's northern and southern regions, along with providing thousands of hot meals from its Yokneam office cafeteria.
